Indiana Medicaid ABA accreditation deadlines 2026 2027 have two major gates. The July reminder required currently enrolled ABA groups to submit proof that accreditation had been initiated by August 1, 2026, with deactivation stated as the consequence for missing documentation. Build one record per group enrollment

Lock legal entity, tax ID, Medicaid group ID, ownership, Indiana service line, enrolled locations, other-state locations, accreditation organization, application date, proof sent, delivery method, receipt, portal update, accreditation state, expiry, and IHCP response. A corporate dashboard or certificate without the Medicaid group identity may not establish that the correct enrollment met the deadline.

Apply the state service-line clarification

BT202660 says ACQ accreditation is at the state service-line level rather than the individual location, but agencies must report Indiana locations and material events to ACQ. An entity operating Medicaid locations in multiple states must seek accreditation for each state service line. Do not treat one state's certificate as nationwide coverage or omit a new, closed, or acquired location from the accreditation record.

Distinguish initiation from completion

The August 1, 2026 gate concerned documentation that the process had started, or an existing certificate. October 1, 2027 is the completion and active-accreditation gate. Store both statuses and evidence. The initial bulletin recognizes ACQ and certain existing BHCOE accreditation until reaccreditation with ACQ. Ask IHCP how a lapse, denial, appeal, acquisition, or pending reaccreditation affects enrollment.

Keep the moratorium boundary visible

Indiana's ABA enrollment moratorium separately restricts new group enrollment and ownership changes, with limited access exceptions linked to accreditation. Accreditation does not itself create an exception, approve ownership, enroll a location, or establish MCE participation. Map moratorium state, exception request, accreditation, Medicaid enrollment, ownership, location, network, and effective dates independently.

A fictional Indiana accreditation audit

Protect members during enrollment risk

If IHCP shows deactivation or missing documentation, verify the exact group and date before changing appointments or claims. Contact IHCP, the accreditor, MCEs, counsel, and clinical continuity owners. Communicate accurately with members and families, avoid promising payment, and preserve clinically appropriate transition options. Never bill under another entity or location to bypass a hold.
