BACB ACE Provider requirements July 2026 changed the operating rules effective July 1. The effective handbook revises provider and coordinator responsibilities, instructor qualifications and expertise evidence, CE and RBT professional-development content, participation monitoring, marketing, feedback, complaints, certificates, and records. ACE Providers should requalify each event and instructor under the 2026 rules rather than treating annual provider authorization as approval of individual content.
Confirm provider type and coordinator authority
Distinguish Individual and Organization ACE Providers and verify the listing in BACB's authorized provider directory. The handbook assigns the ACE Coordinator responsibility for compliance and makes the coordinator the BACB contact. Organization providers must be recognized legal entities, and new or changing coordinators generally need five years of active BCBA certification with no published disciplinary action. Preserve authorization period, provider type, coordinator qualification, employment or contract relationship, registry check, renewal, and handoff evidence.
Requalify instructors and subject expertise
A CE instructor must meet one of the credential or doctoral routes and must also have documented expertise in the subject. The handbook provides experience, teaching, publications, or combinations as evidence, while BACB's supervision and training resources remain a separate source set for those topics. A co-presenter who lacks instructor qualifications may present only a portion under direct oversight. RBT professional-development instructors must hold an active BCaBA, BCBA, or BCBA-D. Store the decision, evidence, reviewer, event scope, and date.
Keep CE and RBT professional development distinct
The BACB change summary separates Learning CE from RBT professional development. Learning CE must be behavior analytic, beyond a basic introduction, aimed at professional behavior analysts, and current. RBT PD has its own appropriate content and audience. Client-specific training, company policy review, software training, CPR, the 40-hour RBT course, and BCBA exam preparation do not become RBT PD merely because an ACE Provider offers them. Assign CEU or PDU type only after the content and audience review.
Validate duration and participation
The handbook uses 25 minutes for 0.5 unit and 50 minutes for one unit, prohibits rounding up, and requires participation evidence. A registration list, sign-in without sign-out, passive time log, or written attestation alone may be insufficient. Design synchronous or asynchronous controls before launch, test them, preserve outputs, and document exceptions. Knowledge checks for asynchronous events should be traceable to event content without exposing answers improperly.
A fictional ACE event audit
Samir locks 41 scheduled or on-demand events. Thirty-two have current provider authority, qualified coordinator, instructor and expertise evidence, content and audience classification, objectives, duration, participation controls, marketing disclosures, feedback route, certificate template, and retention owner. Completeness is 32 of 41, or 78%. Three instructors lack expertise evidence, two events mix CE and PD audiences, two participation controls are inadequate, and two descriptions omit disclosures.
Control marketing, complaints, and documentation
Public event descriptions must include provider identity, instructor qualifications and expertise, objectives, relevant affiliations, and publication date for online events. Participants need feedback and complaint routes. Certificates or other documentation must contain the required fields and be issued within the handbook's timing. Coordinators retain event, instructor, attendance, monitoring, feedback, marketing, and certificate evidence and should be able to replace documentation as required.
