To report instructive feedback data, identify the primary and secondary target sets, presentation position, schedule, planned and valid exposures, response requirements, spontaneous communication, and later probe conditions. Show primary acquisition, secondary probe results, prompts, any added direct teaching, session time, partner integrity, access failures, withdrawal, and client report. Keep exposure, probe, and direct-teaching denominators separate so incidental learning is not overstated.
Define how to report instructive feedback data
Version the target pairs, trial sequence, statement, schedule, response rule, consequence rule, probe, and decision threshold. Record exact dates and actual delivery. A changed target or schedule starts a new version.
Use aligned denominators
Exposure completeness is valid presentations divided by presentations due. Primary acquisition uses eligible primary trials. Secondary learning uses independent correct probes divided by probes due. Direct-teaching efficiency applies only after teaching begins.
Capture the real procedure
The review separates primary teaching from secondary presentation. The schedule study treats presentation frequency as an independent variable. These distinctions make a single blended accuracy score uninterpretable.
Preserve access and documentation
The BACB outline covers measurement, integrity, design, and interpretation. The Ethics Code addresses documentation and evaluation. ASHA supports AAC readiness as a separate system measure.
A practical example
Six primary and six secondary targets produce 24 planned secondary presentations. Valid exposure is 21/24, primary accuracy 31/36, and secondary probes 4/6. Two unlearned priorities begin direct teaching later. The report keeps all three stages distinct.
Questions families can use
Which targets were directly taught? How many valid secondary exposures occurred? Were probe responses independent? Did staff prompt secondary targets? Are access failures, spontaneous messages, and added teaching visible?
