Because Lennon crosses a county line, families comparing ABA therapy in Lennon MI should start with the exact residence, not the village name alone. Put public-agency and transit answers for that address on one side of a sheet. Put the proposed clinician, setting, schedule and health-plan responses on the other. A public listing or referral cannot confirm private care.

Finni helps families connect with ABA providers. This guide is educational and is not an independent ranking.

Why Lennon needs two sides on the same sheet

The Village of Lennon says the community lies on the Shiawassee–Genesee county boundary. Its Shiawassee portion is in Venice Township, its Genesee portion is in Clayton Township, and M-13 follows the county line. That municipal description explains why the village name is not enough to select a county office, school authority or transportation system. It does not locate a particular home or show that private ABA is available.

Copy the residence exactly as it appears on official records. Ask the office reached whether it is responsible for that address and question; if not, record the agency it identifies instead of guessing. Keep the county, township and school-authority cells blank until the responsible body confirms them. For every response, note the office, question, date, answer and next contact. Give each proposed care location its own line because a destination can change the travel answer without changing the home address.

Keep an early-childhood referral separate from care acceptance

Early On Michigan describes the state’s early-intervention system for children from birth to age three who may have a disability, developmental delay or certain at-risk health conditions. Its statewide telephone and online referral routes let a family begin without guessing an ISD from the village name; they do not assign an ISD. Referral starts an inquiry, not an eligibility finding, service promise, ABA referral, appointment, provider assignment or insurance decision.

Age and purpose determine where an answer belongs. Any school question still requires independent confirmation of the school authority for the exact residence. A public-program response does not decide whether a private ABA practice will evaluate the child, accept clinical responsibility or offer a schedule.

A diagnostic evaluation, an ABA assessment and recurring care are also different decisions. A diagnostic evaluator addresses whether a diagnosis applies. An ABA assessor considers support needs, context and possible recommendations. Recurring care begins only if a practice accepts the child, a named clinician takes responsibility, the proposed setting is staffed and the schedule is agreed. Completion of one does not reserve or guarantee the next.

Compare the assessment behind the proposal

Ask what question the assessment addresses and how the evaluator’s qualifications and experience fit it. Observation may need to accommodate AAC, movement, sensory access, breaks or discomfort with unfamiliar adults. Records and family observations add context, while the evaluator remains responsible for interpretation and explaining uncertainty.

Recommendations should connect amount, frequency and setting to findings and intended benefit. Compare the reasoning, not only hours. Ask what alternatives and assumptions were considered and what new information could change the recommendation.

Ask how each goal supports communication, access, safety or another child- and family-valued outcome. A goal could help a child request a quiet break during a crowded activity through speech, AAC, gesture or movement to an agreed place. Harmless differences do not automatically require intervention. An environmental or adult change may remove a barrier without placing the whole burden on the child.

An authorized decision-maker provides consent. The child still communicates ongoing assent: readiness, uncertainty or refusal may appear in words or AAC, by moving closer or away, or by pausing. Compare how the team notices those signals, protects a stop and involves the responsible clinician when an activity or plan needs reconsideration. Outward compliance alone is not evidence of progress.

Confirm the people, not just the program description

When a proposal names a BCBA, verify that person’s Behavior Analyst Certification Board certification. Separately check any state license applicable to the work and location; these are distinct credentials. Neither proves the clinician accepted this child. Record the clinician’s name and whether that person evaluates the plan, observes care, considers feedback and authorizes changes.

Direct staff need preparation for the child’s communication, preferences, current instructions, breaks and relevant safety information. Supervision includes observation, feedback and relevant record review. A name on a chart does not establish preparation. Family observations can inform care without making a caregiver responsible for employees.

Before an absence, ask who decides a substitute is ready, what child-specific briefing and observation occurred, and what supervision is available. If preparation is incomplete, the accountable clinician determines whether care pauses or stays within verified limits. A backup-list name is not an accepted, prepared substitute.

Caregiver presence, active participation and optional ideas are different commitments. Ask for each purpose and realistic time. Work, health, language access or other caregiving duties may require an alternative. An understanding check lets the family restate whom to contact, when to stop and what backup was accepted.

Give each proposed setting its own conditions

For home-based care, compare the setup with privacy, siblings, visitors, pets, space and adult availability. Separate requirements from preferences. A parent should not quietly become an employee supervisor, nor should siblings’ ordinary needs disappear. Record what happens when the planned room, adult or privacy is unavailable.

For clinic-based care, ask for the child-facing address, arrival process, caregiver-presence expectation, authorized collection and response to an early ending. A Lennon label, directory result or service-area statement does not prove a staffed clinic. Confirm the address before testing the journey.

School and community settings require a clinical purpose and permission from the organization controlling the space. Caregiver consent does not create access or transfer educational authority. Confirm the school relationship independently and limit records to the approved purpose and verified recipient.

For remote care, record the purpose, platform, participants, privacy at both ends and fit with the child’s comfort and access. Recording is separate: clarify access, retention, deletion and a nonrecorded alternative. If connection fails, technical support handles the platform, the clinician addresses unfinished care within limits, scheduling offers another time and billing explains possible fees.

Test each side of a recurring trip independently

The Shiawassee Area Transportation Agency describes curb-to-curb demand-response service within Shiawassee County. It separately describes limited out-of-county trips for educational, medical, employment and training appointments through a program for senior and ADA-disabled county residents. Neither description confirms a child’s rider category, accepted destination, attendant rules, accessible vehicle, return trip or repeat transportation to private care. The page’s prior-day scheduling language is in its senior-services section and cannot be generalized.

MTA Flint’s Your Ride page describes qualifying personalized transit within Genesee County, advance arrangements, pickup windows and assistance limits. It says passenger and aide arrangements should be made together. Families still must verify the service center, eligibility, trip acceptance, vehicle and any recurring ride. An MTA answer stays on the Genesee side; a SATA answer stays on the Shiawassee side.

Place each transit response under the county side the responsible operator confirmed. Never copy rider conditions, timing, assistance or request steps across the line. For one round trip, record pickup, destination, arrival window, return, adult or aide, access needs, fare, cancellation and an early ending. Confirm every proposed day. A published request process is not a reservation, and an outbound ride does not prove the return.

Name who releases and receives the child and who responds if either side is late. Add meals, medication handled by an authorized person, rest and sibling logistics. If the journey cannot support the week, revisit the schedule instead of assuming the gap will solve itself.

Keep coverage separate

The federal CMS Autism Services page links Medicaid autism guidance. It is navigation, not a Lennon coverage decision. It does not show Michigan eligibility, a member benefit, medical necessity, network status, authorization, provider acceptance, treatment amount, cost or payment. Answers must come from the family’s actual plan for the exact proposal.

Ask the plan about the exact product, provider, location and network status, including separate assessment and treatment requirements. Record the submitter, tracker and next-update person and date. A practice accepting an insurer is not the plan confirming this provider and location for this product.

A written estimate should identify the service, clinician type, location, expected amount or frequency and unresolved assumptions. Keep the estimate, explanation of benefits and bill separate. Ask the practice about charges and fees; ask the plan about benefits, allowed amounts and cost sharing.

Intake should use the minimum records for a defined purpose, verified recipient and accepted secure method. Permission identifies scope. A receipt confirms arrival, not completeness, clinical acceptance or a decision. Record any missing item and the next-update person.

Revisit responsibility when circumstances change

A routine review identifies the evaluating clinician, information considered, changes and next date. Increased distress, stalled participation, an irrelevant goal or a setting change may prompt an earlier review. Families bring observations; the clinician owns clinical decisions and explains limits.

Transfer has two readiness tests. Operational readiness covers records, staffing, scheduling, the setting and a start date. Clinical acceptance means a named clinician has accepted responsibility within a stated scope. Record both because one does not prove the other, and ask whether anyone accepted interim clinical responsibility. Forwarded records and completed scheduling tasks do not promise gap coverage.

The sheet should preserve disagreements instead of averaging them. Record an inquiry as an inquiry rather than a ride, and receipt as receipt rather than authorization. If the practice offers an assessment but has not accepted recurring care, keep those answers in different cells.

Questions the Lennon sheet should settle

What if the responsible public authority is still unclear?

Copy the exact address and write the unresolved question. Ask the office reached whether it owns that question for that address; if it does not, record the referral it gives. Keep the cell blank until the responsible authority confirms it. Proximity is not confirmation.

Does completing one evaluation reserve recurring ABA care?

No. A diagnostic decision, an ABA assessment and a practice’s acceptance of recurring care answer different questions. Keep each decision and date in its own cell.

What proves that recurring care is ready?

Look for three accepted conditions at the same time: a named clinician has taken responsibility, prepared staff are available in a permitted setting, and the practice has accepted the recurring schedule. An assessment appointment alone does not establish them.

What makes a weekly schedule usable?

Test each proposed day from the preceding commitment through the return handoff. Include the accepted setting, staffed time, both journeys, meals, rest and the person who responds when one dependency changes.

When is a coverage answer specific enough?

It should identify the exact plan product, provider, location and service, with any referral or authorization requirements and a dated next step. General autism information or an insurer name is not that answer.

Keep each answer attached to its question

When comparing ABA therapy in Lennon MI, use the residence to identify which public agency must answer, then verify the proposed clinician, setting, schedule and plan separately. Keep the source and date beside each answer. Do not carry a transit rule across the county line or treat a referral as an accepted appointment.
