Match the order and carrier

Record the seller, order number, carrier, tracking number, ship date, expected item, delivery address indicator, and official tracking route. Keep the full address and number in a protected account. A teaching list can use a short item label and masked tracking suffix.

Interpret each status narrowly

The USPS tracking guide says its status may include delivery or attempted-delivery time and location when available. It also says tracking neither expedites nor guarantees delivery and that an expected delivery window can change.

Protect links and notifications

Open tracking from the order account, saved carrier app, or manually entered official address. The FTC scam guide advises independent verification before acting on unexpected requests for information or payment. Avoid entering passwords, payment data, or one-time codes through an unsolicited delivery message.

Plan for access and receipt

Choose email, text, app, screen reader, visual schedule, AAC, building desk, locker, trusted recipient, or other available support. ASHA guidance supports continued communication-tool access. Record whether a signature, pickup ID, safe location, or delivery instruction applies.

A practical example

Ari tracks seven expected parcels. Six are matched to an official carrier record; one text link has no corresponding order. Four show movement, one awaits pickup, and one shows delivery to the front desk. Tracking match is 6 of 7. Physical receipt is confirmed for one and reported separately.

Questions families can use

Ask which order the number belongs to, which official carrier route was used, what the exact status means, whether the date is estimated, where delivery is listed, which access support works, and what next action is currently allowed.
