Joyful and Holistic ABA

For almost a decade I have been working as a BCBA to empower children and families, bringing behavior analytic tools with an holistic and compassionate approach. Inspiring the individuals I work with to cultivate their strengths and interests as well as learn strategies and replacement behaviors to mitigate challenging behavior such as tantrum, aggression and injurious behavior has been life-changing for my clients and me! Working with parents and caregivers as a team to learn and grow together has also been one of the greatest gifts in my career.

As the name implies, our approach is rooted in maintaining the personal dignity of clients which means we look to our clients for assent such as eye contact and a calm body before running programs. We never force compliance and promote calming strategies and coping skills to all clients as self-regulation is the foundation for executive function. We capitalize on each client's strengths and interests to build motivation organically. Additionally, we believe each session should include structured and unstructured physical movement and play, artistic expression as well as either going outside to access nature or having the client engage in activities that involve natural elements when in-doors.

We start with an initial assessment where we can determine goals for therapy. Once we receive the authorization to proceed with in-home services. Once we identify an RBT who has a schedule that fits with the family, we can begin services. Both BCBA and RBT will be present on the first day. The BCBA will review the client partnership agreement, program goals and answer questions. The RBT will focus on building rapport with the client. Once the BCBA wraps up speaking with parents, they will review goals and programming with the RBT, modeling the most important goals, checking for competency. BCBA will attend session at least once every 1-2 weeks, either in-person or telehealth to ensure programs are being run correctly, analyze the data and update programs as needed.
